Hey, science types!

I don't quite understand this story from the Beeb. Is this thing now in some sort of ice cavern, or is it inside a solid chunk of ice, or what? It's very confusing - and none of my other news sites are reporting on it yet...

Picture a giant (Like maybe many many football fields in size) a floating ice cube. Island size even. Way up in the nearly forever frozen waters of the northern hemisphere. Someone, gets a brilliant idea to set up a small village complete with airport to do scientific studies in this polar region.
Unfortunately, since it is a mobile, "FLOATING" island it has moved. Apparently more then they would have expected, like by 2000 miles! And into warmer climates and waters.

If you have ever seen the Movie Ice age, and seen the additional closing scenes with Scrat encased in ice and landing on a warm tropical beach, then that is basically the gist of this article. Except, this sounds more Buggs Bunny/Daffy Duck 'ish as a bunch of scientist are sitting on a continually shrinking ice cube.

At least that is my take on it.

The comment about the wall of ice growing was confusing. It might be another poorly written story ...

It was the bit about the wall of ice that made no sense to me. That, and that they were trying to lower supplies down to the scientists. It made it sound like they were now in some sort of chasm or canyon.
