I'm not sure how, but DK's gotta be to blame...

I could not believe my...well, eyes!

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands (Reuters) -- Body piercing and tattoos make way. A new fashion statement has hit the Netherlands -- eyeball jewelry.

Now if they came up with a Farscape-style "S", there are probably scapers out there crazy enough to try it...

Captain, there are things too icky to be spoken of, even on the internet. This is one of those things.

Fred looked at the photo attached to the news blurb last night, shook his head, and commented that they probably only came up with doing something to the eye because it was the last untouched body part available for piercing. We've (well, not WE, but Some People) managed to attach metal baubles to just about everything else, including bellies, butts, and unmentionables.

Ick.

A shady tree, an untouched epidermis, and thou, singing in the wilderness beside me. What more could I want?

Heavy emphasis on the untouched epidermis.

I suppose we could start piercing internal organs, but it is my understanding that that generally leads to a messy and painful death.

Also, you can't really show it off, unless the other person has an x-ray machine.

No, this eye piercing is just another step down the road to the sort of cyberpunk body modification previously envisioned only in William Gibson's worst nightmares.

I imagine wearing an earring on ones kidney would make getting through airport security just a tad tricky.
